I had the great pleasure of stopping in my local comic shop. Sadly I didn’t spend as much money as I have in the past. I don’t get in as often as I used to and my subscriptions have ran out or the books I had been getting have been canceled or turned to crap. There was a couple of happy moments where I jumped up and down and acted like a dork. I picked up issue #2 of The Imaginaries and The Devils Panties 7 & 8.

Imaginaries is a pretty interesting read. The Imaginaries world is the place where all of your imaginary friends go once you forget or give up on them. It does at moments read like a “what if Superman had been in the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit” comic. I like the world he is developing. Not giving to much away but I like how they explain the Teddy Bear Gestapo as not being all there. It seems that because Teddy Bears are not completely fake they can be dragged in and out of the real world and that is causing them to gain multiple personalities. I recomend it, at least for the moment. It has the possibilities to be a great book. The art and story are very strong, I would only fear that a world that loose could easily fall apart without some care.

The Devils Panties (the comic) is exactly what you would think it is. It’s Jennie Breeden in print. You can finally hold on to it and love it and pet it and call it George. That said obviously I’m a fan and asking the guys at the store they say that it sells well. One even mentioned that it brought in a few new regulars. Yea! I’ve can’t really complaine. I’m not sure I would have picked it up had I never read The Devils Panties before but it had all the funny that I get online in a big easy to carry format. It’s got a tough road ahead of it. It sits on the shelf very near classic comics like Captain America and we all know Cap is a no funny business kinda guy. Maybe a little Devils Panties humor will loosen up his red white and blue shorts.

It’s not instore yet but I wanted to point out that DJ Coffman (and Jason Embury) has been posting teasers on the Herobynight.net site. I’m a sucker and I’m hooked and I haven’t even bought issue #1 yet (that reminds me I should preorder). I know that your gonna tell me I’m an idiot and I can handel that, but DJ’s style is starting to remind me of Ron Garney’s style.

Here is DJ’s cover on issue #2

Here is one of my favorite Captain America covers.

Maybe it’s just the feel of the art but that’s the vibe I get.

I’ll cut this off now and see you all again the next time I get by the comic shop.
