Drawn from sources that can’t believe it’s 2008…

Video of Bob Staake drawing in Photoshop.

Clan of the Cats will return Jan. 4th.

Brian Warmoth leaves Wizard and has thankfully found a new gig as the Marketing Manager of Devil’s Due Publishing. I agree with Fleen that his interviews will be missed. Best of luck Brian!

Broken Frontier will announce the winners for the 2007 BF Awards on Jan. 10th.  This year in the Paper Screen Gem Awards: Best Webcomic category Dreamland Chronicles, Last Blood, Penny Arcade and Perry Bible Fellowship are the nominees. Among the Creator Awards: Best Webcomic Creator category nominees are Frank Frisina (Life’s a Bluff), Ramon Perez (Butternut Squash), Scott Christian Sava (Dreamland Chronicles) and Ursula Vernon (Digger). Good luck to you all!

Note:  I’m still trying to get  a comment from the Free Comic Book Day  people so if nothing  comes by Monday then I’ll  write down what I’ve got.

Webcomic Wire - 1/2/08

Posted by DarthMike on January 2nd, 2008

Drawn from sources all over the universe…

  • Rough Sketch, a blog about discovering inspiration for webcomic artists and readers.
  • Michael Rouse-Deane calls it quits for the blog Webcomics in Print. Thanks for all the hard work Mike!
  • Fleen has an interesting post about money and webcomics.
  • Krisha launches PC Weenies v2.0 at PCWeenies.net. Good luck!
  • Welcome Rival Angels to the world of webcomics. Good luck!
  • Also among the new webcomics is Skin Horse drawn and co-written by Shaenon K. Garrity and Jeffrey Channing Wells. Best of luck to you both :-)
  • Cheryl Lynn, of Digital Femme fame, has started the LJ Community torchbearers which is an excellent way to discuss and read about diversity in comics.

Note: I’ve asked Keenspot and the Free Comic Book Day people for comments and/ or interviews relating to their  exclusion of several webcomic titles from FCBD 2008. No comment by press time, we’ll see what comes by Friday.
