Webcomic Wire – 3/31/2010

Posted by DarthMike on March 31st, 2010

Drawn from sources all over the micro-verse…

  • The tragedy of Calvin taking Ritalin.
  • Charles Lavoie makes the case that practically every New Yorker cartoon can be re-captioned with ‘Christ, what an asshole!’ without loosing the funny.
  • NH State Rep. Nick Levasseur, massive tool, thinks that anime is a reason that ‘two nukes just wasn’t enough.’ The incredible tool apologizes for his stupidity at least.
  • Comic books absolved of role in vampire hunting spree in 1954.
  • NYC Graphic has an interview with Jason Little.
  • Fleen has a post about PAX East 2010 if you’re curious about how it’s going.
  • Intervention webcomic convention pre-registration is open.
  • Platinum and ezprints launch an online store.
  • Sequential Tart has an interview with Anders Loves Maria creator Rene Engstrom.
  • WEBCOMIC SPOTLIGHT: Bottlebrush and Slick
Reported by Michael Moss.

Hero By Night to be a TV Hero?

Posted by admin on November 14th, 2008

I just wanted to point you to a good interview that Jennier Contino did with DJ Coffman about the news that Hero By Nights may hit your TV Screens.

BY JENNIFER M. CONTINO
Late yesterday, Platinum Studios sent out a press release announcing they’d teamed with IM Global to create a Hero By Night TV series. DJ Coffman’s Hero By Night was the 2006 winner of Platinum’s Comic Book Challenge. Coffman wasn’t informed of the deal. He woke up to dozens of phone messages and emails about the PR. Coffman’s a long time friend of THE PULSE, so we wanted to get a few comments from him about the potential live-action Hero By Night series and find out about his involvement with the musical group, Flobots.

Capes and Birthdays

Posted by admin on November 13th, 2008

And now a special message:

Hey Gigcasters…
Just a quick shout out that Capes & Babes is officially one year old today. I had my online debut November 12th of last year and it’s been a fun and exciting 365 days since that first strip.

Anyway, if you want to check out my strip, I can be found every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at http://www.capesnbabes.com.

If you already know about the strip and have checked me out, I appreciate the support. Hopefully, 2009 will be as fun and as exciting as 2008 was!

Thanks everybody!

-Chris

The Night Owls Animated

Untitled Project Productions and the Timony Twins present THE NIGHT OWLS, Episode 1, an animated short based on the popular comic strip published by Zuda Comics!   The Night Owls is © Peter Timony and Robert Timony is a Detective Agency set in New York City in the 1920s and specializing in cases that involve the supernatural.

Hi, My name is Brian Wilson From the comic Geist Panik.

I recently found the gigcast through the webcomic beacon. I am currently trying to promote the new strip( I ended my other comic of three years to start it) and was looking to get a kind of professional review. I listen to the gigcast and I really dig it, and I would love to either come on the show or see what you think of the new project!

Thanks!

-Brian Wilson

Congratulations Uglyhill and Bellen

Posted by admin on May 23rd, 2008

Rumor has it that today is Ugly Hills 3rd anniversary. Congratulations on an incredible 3 years and some of the best reading on the internet.

I just found out from Box Brown that Bellen is also celebrating his 2 year anniversary. Holy crap on the milestones.

Webcomic Wire – 5/5/08

Drawn from sources inspired by the Maker’s Faire…

  • A womping 10 years of PVP! Congratulations Scott!
  • Tim Broderick replies to Chris Wright’s guest column on Fleen.
  • Webcomics collective Transplant Comics seems to be recovering well from surgery.
  • Red String celebrates 5 years. Congratulations Gina!
  • 5 years of Station 3V. Congratulations Tom!
  • The Webcomic Overlook has a one punch review of Wayfarer’s Moon.
  • Comic Fencing has started with their first reviews of We The Robots.
  • Voting for the Eisner Awards is open.
  • I had the chance to meet Craig Schwartz and the other creators of Toonlet at their Maker’s Faire table on Saturday.  They seem really energized about their software and had some interesting ideas about how it might be used by existing webcartoonists to enhance their forums by giving fans access to their characters so they can respond to the latest strip and to each other. Commentary through comics? Could be cool.
